I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist since 2000, and before that I worked as a psychotherapist at a community agency. I have also been a trainer of psychotherapists and co-editor of a counseling and psychotherapy journal.

Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I was a teacher to speakers of other languages at both secondary and tertiary levels in New Zealand and in the Middle East.

In my psychotherapy practice I see both individuals and couples, and because of my earlier teaching experience I enjoy seeing clients from diverse cultures.

I also offer general supervision, have experience in running groups, and am a training supervisor for the Advanced Clinical Practice qualification of NZAP (New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists).

People come to psychotherapy when their lives are not working for them in various ways, and the process of making sense of their thoughts and feelings helps grow their capacities and create positive change.

As a psychotherapist I consider the therapeutic relationship of primary importance. Within this safe and reliable relationship, we are both working to understand the deeper and unconscious levels of the client’s experience.

Group Therapy Sessions
Learn more about yourself in a group

Group therapy is particularly useful for those who are anxious in social situations and settings where they have to relate to more than one person. People who often imagine what others are thinking about them, and struggle with that, are able to check this out in the safety of the group and talk about it. A group offers opportunities for self–experience that individual therapy cannot.

The group will meet weekly on a Tuesday evening for one and a half hours in Central Wellington.
Cost is $60 per session
