I offer long term psychotherapy in a confidential and safe setting, I work with individuals only.

I am experienced with working with traumatised people, which is my particular talent. I adhere to the NZAP (New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists) Code of Ethics and value ethical and professional practice highly.

I am trained in Person-Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Hakomi Therapy.

Counselling

When you are at a turning point in your life, talking to the right person can really make a difference.

Counsellors have an empathic ear, trained to listen and understand. Just having the experience of being listened to and understood can alleviate some of your distress, which is the first level of talking therapy.

Going further, psychotherapy provides a unique space to open up your thinking about your life and relationships, a process that is transformative and enriching.

I use a modality of counselling called Hakomi. It is a mindfulness based body-centred approach. Because we use mindfulness - observing how the body and mind are responding in the present moment - the work accesses important core beliefs and attitudes quickly.

Mindfulness is also a skill that you can use to reduce stress in your life and that can greatly alleviate the pain of what you may be going through.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is the process of helping you increase self awareness and bring about change at a deep level. How we relate in the therapy gives insights into other areas of your life.

The work is alive and present, although you may make links back to your earliest relationships and how they colour your world today.

Great care is taken to create the safety necessary to allow you to become curious about, explore and make sense of old patterns and behaviours, allowing you to renegotiate decisions made long ago.

In an empathic, accepting  and mindful environment, change, growth and a sense of well-being can be facilitated, allowing you to realise your full potential and regain your sense of aliveness.

During and after therapy you can expect to have:
  • Improved relationships and more satisfying friendships
  • More rewarding experience of parenting
  • A sense of aliveness and happiness day to day
  • Inner peace and reduced self criticism
  • Assertiveness
  • Harmony in your family life
